D-dimer (D-Dimer) is a specific degradation product of fibrin monomer cross-linked by activated factor X, and then hydrolyzed by fibrin enzyme. Since D-dimer is only produced when cross-linked fibrin is degraded, it can be used as a marker of coagulation activation and secondary fibrinolytic activation in the body.
