Adiponectin biological properties

Adiponectin (ADP, ADPN, ADN) is a hormone secreted by adipocytes, which is considered to exist in the blood circulation in different forms, among which the polymer is the main active form. It has physiological functions such as regulating glucose metabolism, anti-inflammatory response, and anti-atherosclerosis. It is a comprehensive indicator that reflects the physiological and metabolic health of the body. It is of great value for early risk screening, disease monitoring and prognosis evaluation of type II diabetes.

Structural features of adiponectin

Adiponectin consists of 244 amino acids with a molecular weight of approximately 30 kDa (28-30 kDa). Adiponectin molecule has four domains: N-terminal secretion signal sequence (aa 1-18), specific sequence (aa19-41), collagen repeat sequence (aa 42-107), globular sequence (aa108-244), in which globular The region is the key site for the biological activity of adiponectin.

Clinical significance of adiponectin

Adiponectin is an important regulator of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism with anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and anti-atherosclerotic properties. Studies have shown that in the case of obesity, type II diabetes (T2DM), cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia and other clinical symptoms, a significant decrease in the level of adiponectin can screen out high-risk groups in the prediabetes stage 4-7 years in advance. This stage is the reversible stage of the natural course of diabetes, which can effectively prevent and control the occurrence of diabetes and achieve primary prevention of type II diabetes.

Adiponectin antigen
